About us
EELAVA takes its name from two Persian roots: “eel,” meaning tribe, and “ava,” meaning voice or song. Together they evoke the collective music of a people carried across generations. The name was chosen to reflect the spirit of the kilims themselves. Each piece can be understood as a kind of silent song, woven rather than sung, shaped by memory, landscape, and the rhythms of daily life. What appears as pattern is also rhythm; what appears as ornament is also voice.
EELAVA brings together handwoven Persian kilims gathered from villages across Iran, where weaving is not an industry but a way of life. Each piece is chosen slowly and deliberately, guided by an eye for balance, character, and quiet strength.

These kilims cannot be rushed into existence. They are woven over time, shaped by the hands of artisans whose knowledge has been carried forward through generations. There are no factories, no production lines, no replicas. We wait for them to appear, as one waits for something meaningful rather than manufactured.
Every kilim is singular. No duplicates exist, and each piece is offered only once. Variations in pattern, color, and structure are the marks of human hands at work, evidence of a process that values presence over perfection. Natural wool and plant-based dyes give these textiles their depth and warmth. The colors come from earth, root, and leaf, absorbing light differently from synthetic materials and aging with quiet grace. They remain part of a natural cycle, durable yet fully recyclable.
Ancient techniques and symbolic patterns lend each kilim a sense of time that extends beyond the present. They do not belong to a passing season. Instead, they carry layers of memory, meaning, and continuity, allowing them to feel both deeply rooted and unexpectedly modern.

All pieces are woven by skilled women and men who practice this craft as both livelihood and heritage. The work is carried out under ethical conditions, without child labour, and artisans are compensated fairly for their time and skill. Each kilim reflects patience, discipline, and artistic intuition, as well as dignity.
EELAVA is for those who seek objects with presence rather than decoration. A kilim is not merely placed in a room but lived with. It holds traces of the past while quietly becoming part of the present, bridging distant landscapes with contemporary homes.
These are stories woven into time, gathered with care, and offered to continue their journey.
